Stresa

Stresa is a beautiful town situated on Lake Maggiore. It's a popular tourist destination because of its proximity to the lake's Borromean Islands and the fact that it's accessible via rail and ferry. Olive groves, lemon groves, bay hedges, camelia, azelia, and magnolia blossoms are just a few of the beautiful plants that can be found here.

However, the town dates back to the Roman era, and was first mentioned in the historical records of Europe in the ninth century. Due to the presence of two noble families, the Borromeo and Visconti, the town flourished in the 1800s. As the number of steam ferries and rail lines in this region expanded, so did the number of tourists visiting Stresa and Lake Maggiore. The construction of a couple of high-end hotels took place. Rockefeller, Clark Gable, Charlie Chaplin, George Bernard Shaw, and Ernest Hemingway all visited the Ducal Palace after the Duchess of Genova purchased it. In the late 1800s, Stresa was known as a spa town.
